Pie Poppin’ 🍭

How it all started..

It was about seven years ago when I started making pie pops. I had seen one photo of the cutest, smallest pie on a stick, and that was it for me! I just had to make these adorable little treats.

Luckily, I found a recipe attached to the pie pop picture and I ran to the store and bought the ingredients.

What’s not to love about a mini pie?

Funny thing was, I hated pie, but they looked so perfect that I had to try them myself.

Baking, designing and party planning were things I was always interested in doing before I found my love for fishing.

Every Friday after school, I would go home and start making desserts for the high school football teams and set them up in my kitchen so they’d have somewhere, and something to eat after a night of selling their discount cards.

From brownies and cupcakes, to massive, messy cakes, I enjoyed every part of baking, crafting and giving to others.

Life was hard, and as a teenager I knew that all too well, so spreading joy brought me joy and I had a good feeling about these pops.

I couldn’t believe how easy the recipe looked.

After I had gathered the ingredients, I got to work. The filling was simple.

It called for a can of blueberry pie filling and pre-made pie crust, and an egg, for egg-wash.

How much easier could it get?

I grabbed a heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut out shapes in the pre-made dough and stuck them on a cookie sheet. I stuck white lollipop sticks in the dough and brushed the edges with the egg-wash, so the top piece of heart-shaped dough would stick to it.

Then I placed a scoop of the blueberry pie filling on each heart and carefully placed the second piece of heart-shaped dough on top. I crimped the edges with a fork and brushed the tops with egg yolk, to brown the tops, and in the oven at 375° for 20 minutes they went.

Out of the oven they came and, they were perfect.

Perfect velvety berries mixed with a golden buttery crust.

That same week I made dozens, found cute bags, ribbons and labels, and immediately started gifting. Whether it was neighbors or the local police & fire departments, I wanted to give these pops away and provide a little treat for someone who might just need an extra thing to smile about that day.

From pre-made, store bought ingredients to perfecting my own from-scratch pie dough and ingredients, crafting new flavors, and designing beautiful pop displays quickly became my new favorite thing to do.

It has been a blessing having a part in making someone’s day with these pops. From holidays and birthday parties, to event favors, and wedding displays, I feel so grateful that I have had a small part in sharing some of my customers most special days.

Now, seeing the pure happiness grow in my daughters hearts as we craft and give delicious goodies and gifts to others has made the adventure of pie popping worth it.

God’s love is spreading, and for

that I am forever grateful.

I’m excited to provide some of my favorite and homemade pie pop recipes here with you so you can in turn spread some love too.
