I'm so excited for today 🤗

I packed up the fishing gear and headed to a local lake where friends were meeting us for what turned out to be a pretty wild time on the ice..

We picked our grid and it was time for me to get some practice drilling holes with the gas auger 👀

Let's see how this goes, lol.

Piece of cake 😅

Not really, but the only way I'm going to learn is if I practice, right? ☺️

My cameraman seemed like he was really focused on getting the best shot..

🙊 thank you, @mikeyshamrocks for the hard work.

It wasn't long before a flag popped and it was my turn to take it.

A small pickerel greeted me and after a quick hook removal, I was happy to send him back through the hole.

While I waited for the next flag, it was time to get breakfast started.

Thick-cut bacon, corned beef hash and yummy things for breakfast sandwiches. 🤤

If you've never cooked bacon slow on a charcoal grill, please don't wait any longer! It is so good. I look forward to ice season just for the bacon ☺️

Yes, I know, I can cook it this way at home too BUT it tastes better on the ice.. 🤩

NEXT FLAG ⬇️

That's what I was looking for! A nice largemouth bass 😍

Good food, friends, a beautiful day.

Flags were popping up left and right. It was CRAZY.

Another flag!! 😳

Let's see how this goes..

😫😭😭

I ended up pulling the line too hard. I've seen so many people just yank their fish up and I thought I was doing it right but it was a mistake that lost me this fish. The fish was huge. It's head hit the edge of the hole and it was gone. Can I redeem myself after that loss?

I couldn't believe it! Honestly, I get so excited over any fish but to catch a bass that weighed over 5lb, it felt amazing. Catching the biggest fish out of all the boys felt pretty good too 😁

I took my time pulling this fish up as you can see. It took so much line, it seemed like a mile long! I was so afraid to lose it like I lost the last fish that I tried so hard not to let that happen again. Instead of pulling up through the hole, I decided to reach my hand down in there as I pulled the line up. I knew once I could get my hand in its mouth that I'd be able to pull it out.

Yesss!

After a hook removal and an adrenaline rush, this fish was back in the water. That was my final flag of the day and dang, what a day we had!!
